Why read it

For anyone who has felt alone for not going with the crowd. Fanny shows that quiet firmness is worth more than social shine, and that the good habits of a household weigh more than they seem to. It is the most moral of Austen's novels, and also the slowest to read.

Summary

Fanny Price, a poor child, grows up in her rich relatives' house at Mansfield Park, shy and nearly invisible. When the brilliant, charming Crawford siblings arrive, the whole household unravels amid amusements, flirtations and amateur theatricals. Fanny holds firm, and her loyalty to what she thinks right in the end prevails.

Quotes

Let other pens dwell on guilt and misery.
If any one faculty of our nature may be called more wonderful than the rest, I do think it is memory.
I cannot think well of a man who sports with any woman’s feelings
Here’s what may leave all painting and all music behind, and what poetry only can attempt to describe!
